HOW TO SPOT FAKE BOBBI BROWN COSMETICS

EEEP! My most favorite makeup brand in the world is sadly being counterfeited. And this time, the counterfeiters are slowly getting good at copying! So don’t be fooled and lured quickly into buying a cheap Bobbi Brown deal online!

I’m no spokesperson for Bobbi Brown, but as a fan of the brand for over 6 years, I am confident to say that I know the products like the back of my hand.

Below are ways on how you can spot a fake Bobbi Brown cosmetic. Lighting and packaging can fool you. It’s important to pay attention to the littlest details in each product. Here’s what you should spot in case you see a “too good to be true” Bobbi Brown deal online:

THE BOX
Check the grammar, font, fonts size, color, and the way its stamped on the box.

PRODUCT FAQS
The weight, actual name of product, and shade. If you’re good in math, you can even convert OZ to ML to see if the weight is accurate.

THE PACKAGING
Bobbi Brown products have a uniform look and feel when it comes to packaging. Bobbi Brown only uses Black and White as her staple colors. If there’ll be a diversion with regard to her brand’s color identity, it would be determined as a special or limited makeup release. For palettes and compacts, they all come in sleek, shiny, black packaging, the foundation bottles are minimalistic in design with black pumps and caps, the lipsticks in jet black or black and gold combination, single blushes and eyeshadows in black square flip-top pans with a clear area on top, etc. There are so many products to define, so please have a look at Bobbi Brown’s official website for reference.

Below are comparison pics containing FAKE and AUTHENTIC most popular Bobbi Brown products for your perusal.

THE FAKE MAKEUP BRUSHES
Bobbi Brown does not sell brush sets. And check out the flimsy and less-than-stellar brush roll.

THE AUTHENTIC MAKEUP BRUSHES
Bobbi Brown sells her makeup brushes individually. But she did release a couple of limited edition makeup brush sets. As of the moment, this is the only brush set available (as per Bobbi Brown website).

THE FAKE EYELASH CURLER
The box was expertly copied in this pic. But check out the eyelash curler. The overall paint is matte. And this fake curler costs $50 a pop!

THE AUTHENTIC EYELASH CURLER
Bobbi’s eyeshadow curler is painted in shiny black paint.

THE AUTHENTIC BOBBI BROWN MASCARA
Chic, no- nonsense style, and comes in BB’s signature sleek, shiny black packaging.

THE FAKE BOBBI BROWN MASCARA
It pays to know each and every mascara name. As far as I know, BB DID NOT release a mascara variant named WATERPROOF LENGTHENING. Waterproof and Lengthening are merely descriptions of what a particular mascara can do, and WATERPROOF LENGTHENING is not a name of a particular product. For instance, Bobbi Brown’s Lash Glamour Extreme Mascara. It is a waterproof and lengthening mascara, and the name of the variant is Lash Glamour Extreme.

THE AUTHENTIC EXTREME PARTY MASCARA
Packaging is steel gray and rounded in shape. Notice that it has no dent on the tube.

THE FAKE EXTREME PARTY MASCARA
I think I don’t have to point out why this became fake. The tube is a giveaway.

THE AUTHENTIC LIPGLOSS
Fonts on the tube should be identical to this one, especially the intensity of the font’s color.

THE FAKE LIPGLOSS
Check out the box. Font is too fat, too thick, and spacing is off. Check out the lipgloss tube. The font on it is too thin, and the font shade is too soft. As far as I know, the applicator of an authentic BB lipgloss is a small nylon brush, not a doe foot applicator.

THE AUTHENTIC LONG WEARING GEL LINER
Compare it with the fake one. Pay attention to the cap and jar size, and font on the jar.

THE FAKE LONG WEARING GEL LINER
Can you tell me what’s fake here? Check out the font on the jar, and the size of the jar and its cover.

THE AUTHENTIC EYESHADOW PALETTE
This is one of BB’s special eyeshadow palette releases. As you can see, a majority of the shades are neutral, because Bobbi is a neutral fan herself. And all authentic BB eyeshadow palettes come with that kind of eyeshadow applicator.

THE FAKE BOBBI BROWN EYESHADOW PALETTE
Check out the applicator. And as far as I know, Bobbi Brown was never a fan of creamy metallic shades.

THE AUTHENTIC MOISTURE RICH FOUNDATION
All of Bobbi Brown’s foundation variants only come in one size.

THE FAKE MOISTURE RICH FOUNDATION
Bobbi Brown DOES NOT sell MRF miniatures. Last time I checked, even the tester counters have full- sized bottles for customer trial.

THE AUTHENTIC FOUNDATION
This is one of Bobbi Brown’s foundation, called Skin Foundation. Most BB foundation bottles are clear, heavy, and ONLY has black colored pumps and caps.

THE FAKE FOUNDATION
This is an example of a fake Bobbi Brown Foundation. It has a gold pump, bottle is off, and BB did not release a MAT LUMIERE variant. Mat Lumiere is by Chanel. Check out the foundation. Bobbi is famous for her yellow- toned foundation, and seems like this one is as white as paper.

There you have it! Best way to go is to get your BB products straight from an authorized retailer or your trusted seller. I’m not telling you to be a snob when it comes to online shopping, as I’ve gotten a ton of pretty good deals from it too. Always be a discerning shopper, and arm yourself with know- hows on spotting fake and authentic products. Feel free to add more info on how to spot Bobbi Brown knock- offs to this list!

  22. Almost all your info is correct. Except for the small foundation bottles are the ones we use at the counters to color match. I work for BB. and believe it or not the cheep brush roll is exactly like the one I got for a holiday present from Bobbi Brown like 10 years ago lol so it could be real also

  23. Do the eye-shadow singles ever come in a circle instead of square? A seller is selling some second hand cheaply and I'm wondering if its fake.
